Composite Fillings
Today’s Go-To Option for Filling Cavities
In today’s world, the go-to material for fillings is composite resin due to its natural looks and durability. Whether you need a superficial filling or more and whether it’s a front or back tooth, the composite resin is versatile enough to fit each need. Composite fillings are nearly unnoticeable because they blend in with your natural teeth. And because the composite resin adheres strongly to tooth enamel, fillings are less likely to come loose. Also, composite fillings have an insulative quality (rather than conductive, like metal), so with composite fillings you’re less likely to experience sensitivity to cold and hot foods.
Crowns and Bridges
Restore your damaged teeth
Crowns and bridges are excellent for restoring damaged teeth that need more support than a typical filling can give. Crowns are used to protect individual teeth, whereas bridges are multiple crowns fused together. Bridges are used when the teeth in need of treatment are located on either side of a missing tooth. This way both the space and the damaged teeth can be resolved with the same restoration. At My Chico Dentist, every crown and bridge is tailored perfectly to each patient. We use the latest dental technology to ensure you achieve the smile you want. Our intraoral camera and intraoral scanner help us photograph your teeth and gums as well as create a 3-D model of your existing smile and treatment outcome before treatment begins. We also have a wireless impression scanner, which is much more accurate than traditional dental impressions and eliminates the discomfort and hassle of slow-setting impression materials of the past.
Tooth Extraction and Replacement
Restoring Function and Health
Preserving your natural smile is our top priority. However, if you have impacted teeth, severe decay, advanced periodontal disease, or broken teeth beyond repair, extractions may be needed. The removal of a tooth affects not only your smile’s appearance but also your day-to-day functions. You may have difficulty chewing, your remaining teeth may shift, and you could even develop problems with your bite or jaw. That’s why it is important to restore function and to maintain your oral health by replacing missing teeth as soon as possible.

Fixed and Removable Dentures
So You Can Smile Again
My Chico Dentist offers both fixed and removable dentures to replace your missing teeth. Fixed dentures are held in place by dental implants. They are a stable, permanent solution that recreates your smile. Fixed dentures are actually removable—but only at your dentist’s office. Alternatively, removable dentures can be taken out at home whenever the need arises. All dentures are custom made, so you can expect a comfortable fit and a natural-looking smile with either option.
Dental Implants
Single- or Multiple-Tooth Replacement
Dental implants are individual posts that are placed into the jawbone to mimic the natural tooth root. Over time, the area around the implant heals, and the implant and jawbone bond together. Implants provide a strong foundation for your final prosthetics (single crowns, a bridge, etc.), which will look and feel just like your natural teeth. Dental implants’ permanence and natural feel make them the ideal replacements for both a single missing tooth and multiple missing teeth.
Implants vs. Dentures
Which choice is right for you?
Implants are a great solution for missing teeth whether you’ve had a single tooth or multiple teeth extracted. They are surgically placed into the jawbone, allowing the jaw and the implant to grow together; the entire process usually takes between six and eight months. Implants are a permanent way to restore function and aesthetics. If you prefer removable dentures instead, these can be customized as a full denture or partial denture depending on how many natural teeth are still present. The decision between implants and dentures depends on several factors, including how many teeth you are missing, what your budget is, and what your personal preferences are. Your dentist will go over all your options to help you decide what course of treatment best suits your individual needs.
