General Dentistry at My Chico Dentist
Dental Care for the Whole Family
General dentistry covers a range of preventive treatments designed to keep you smiling for years to come. Regular dental checkups are necessary to ensure that any oral health issues are diagnosed and treated early. General dental services include routine dental evaluations, X-rays, and professional teeth cleanings as well as operative procedures to treat decay and disease.
Your First Visit
Welcome to the My Chico Dentist family.
Your first visit is a chance for our team to get to know you, to discuss any and all concerns you have, and to perform a thorough evaluation. We ask you to please bring along any previous X-rays, a list of all current medications and previous medical conditions, and your insurance information to this appointment. If you don’t have recent X-rays, that’s alright. We can take them in our office. Our compassionate dentists then discuss any dental concerns and recommend appropriate treatment options.
For a Lifetime of Healthy Teeth
Routine professional dental cleanings are an important part of any oral hygiene routine. Dental professionals can reach those hard-to-get places that a regular toothbrush simply cannot. At My Chico Dentist, our expert team of dental hygiene professionals will keep your teeth shining brightly, and your dentist will perform full oral evaluations. If you ever do need fillings, we use tooth-colored materials so that your restorations perfectly match your existing smile.
Our General Dentistry Services Help You
A Durable Fix
If you have a tooth in need of more extensive support than a normal filling can offer, you might need a crown. A crown is a long-lasting solution that restores the integrity of your tooth and replenishes your smile. At My Chico Dentist, we offer full ceramic crowns. Ceramic crowns have been around for a long time. They are very natural-looking and have some translucency that mimics the look of a natural tooth. Zirconia crowns are a newer but no less durable option.
Healthy lives depend on healthy mouths.
The oral-systemic connection, or link between your oral health and your overall well-being, is well recognized. The mouth is sometimes described as the gateway to your body. Poor oral health has been linked to a variety of health conditions, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. At My Chico Dentist, we take a holistic approach to your health and help you to maintain optimal teeth and gum health so that you have the best chance of staying well now and in the future.
Healthy gums are important.
Periodontal therapy is the treatment of the gum tissue, which is just as important as your teeth when it comes to good oral health. Plaque, a colorless film that sticks to your teeth and gums, can harden and cause periodontal disease if not properly removed. Other factors such as smoking, diabetes, medication, poor nutrition, and teeth grinding can also cause gum issues. While some periodontal conditions can be prevented with regular brushing and flossing, there is no substitute for professional dental cleanings and evaluations.
Protect your teeth while you sleep.
Bruxism (teeth grinding) can severely damage your teeth. If you think you grind your teeth, ask one of our dentists if a nightguard is right for you. Many people who grind their teeth may not even realize it because they do it in their sleep. Signs you might grind your teeth include morning headaches, a sore jaw, facial pain, or unexplained tooth damage. A nightguard helps prevent enamel wear and protects your teeth when you need it most.
We’re here to make you comfortable.
Dental anxiety is common. As experienced dental professionals, we completely understand that, and it’s our mission to give you the best and gentlest care possible. Our team is skilled at putting patients at ease and offers support to make your experience as comfortable as possible. This includes nitrous oxide and oral sedation.
